So waht if he forcasted Dean & Felix to make landfall as a cat 5 even if they WERE already. Hurricanes are known to weaken right before they hit landfall. So no it was NOT definite that they would make landfall as a Cat 5

Bob, Do you foresee anything tropical slipping our way in the next week?  I went to another weather website and read that there COULD be something that forms in the southwestern Caribbean and moving north into the Gulf.    I know that I shouldn't worry about things that haven't formed yet, but that's me!

Bob, ignore all these comments so far.  So what was the NHC explantion for declaring Humberto a hurricane?

Comment posted by Anonymous (Anonymous), on September 14, 2007, 6:45 pm
OK so now Bob says Humberto is a hurricane? I thought the NHC "fudged" their data according to him?  Alot of flipping and flopping going on in here.

Comment posted by Anonymous (Anonymous), on September 14, 2007, 6:25 pm
LOLOLO...read your own comments you moron. From his blog! "With the center of Humberto still over the warm Gulf waters, he continues to strengthen approaching hurricane force in the right front quadrant tonight. The NHC forecast brings him inland before daybreak along the Texas/Louisiana border.  Hopefully that will happen because if Humberto veers more to the right, he'll remain over water longer making it possible for him to reach a Cat. 1 hurricane." Which it did!

"he forecasted Dean and Felix to make landfall as a cat5." lol lol dang I think I just pissed my pants from laughing... DUDE they were already CAT5's! lol My 2yr old could have forecasted that to happen. BEFORE Bob forecasted Felix to huge South America and not develop! Dean according to him was headed up and out to the east of US!  lol lol

Comment posted by Anonymous (Anonymous), on September 14, 2007, 6:14 pm
LOL go back and read his blogs and you will cleary see his forecasts BEFORE he had to save face and change them quickly... do I need to post his forecast for you?  As you would say DUDE you are really brainwashed. The Facts are there. So Bob forecasted Humberto to become a hurricane? lol you drinking?

Comment posted by Anonymous (Anonymous), on September 14, 2007, 6:06 pm
"Great we have high school kids in here"...probably smarter than you. Actually BOB was 3 for 3. (1) he forecasted Dean and Felix to make landfall as a cat5. (3) if you watched him Wednesday night. He said I would not be surprised if they upgrade Humberto to a cat1 before landfall. So there you go 3 for 3. Obviously you do not watch him on TV!

Comment posted by Anonymous (Anonymous), on September 14, 2007, 5:58 pm
"DUDE....get a life already"  Great now we have high school kids in here.  FACTS: Dean did not go east, Felix did develop (Cat5 under 48 hrs) Humberto was a hurricane and also FACT any named storm will allow insurers to apply hurricane deducts..  Bob's hurricane record 0 for 3  Insurance record 0 for 1.. just the facts..

Comment posted by Anonymous (Anonymous), on September 14, 2007, 5:51 pm
Yeah because you were there to witness the NHC holding his hand. DUDE....get a life already.

Comment posted by Anonymous (Anonymous), on September 14, 2007, 5:48 pm
ANYONE can view the radar info and the sat pics along with great deal of other info on the storm and you can cleary see it was a hurricane.  Bob is just mad because the NHC had to hold his hand over the phone and explain it to him.  This is why he will not post a follow up on his discussion with them.

Thanks web master for deleting the bogus 11:15 post.

Bob, thanks for stepping up on the hurricane status for Humberto.  Especially, with the petty buffoonery from one or two individuals on this blog.
I'm not even so much as an amateur meteorologist and I have to call BS on the hurricane status at the last minute.

Comment posted by Anonymous (Anonymous), on September 14, 2007, 5:15 pm
If you read the tropical discussion yesterday for Humberto, which you clearly didn't, they said
"TO PUT THIS
DEVELOPMENT IN PERSPECTIVE...NO TROPICAL CYCLONE IN THE HISTORICAL
RECORD HAS EVER REACHED THIS INTENSITY AT A FASTER RATE NEAR
LANDFALL.  IT WOULD BE NICE TO KNOW...SOMEDAY...WHY THIS HAPPENED." WOW, being a hurricane forecaster, whatever. You would think they would have the answers. UH NOT! Sounds to me like the are trying to up their numbers!

Comment posted by Anonymous (Anonymous), on September 14, 2007, 4:37 pm
NHC declared the storm a hurricane based on the facts, which are radar as well as measurements taken by the hurricane hunters, Bob is just trying to stir trouble again to cover his lack of forecasting of the latest tropical systems.

Comment posted by Anonymous (Anonymous), on September 14, 2007, 3:44 pm
I agree with Bob! The NHC only named Humberto to get their numbers up.  There is no way they are going to make their numbers this year. I believe they got scared and nervous and deceided to name it at the last minute. After Sept. 10, only 42% of the hurricanes occur.  NHC is losing time.

I'm assuming that anonymous used Ms. Breland's name too.  The times posted are pretty close.

Hey Bob, I agree about changing the way you can leave a comment.  You should have to login with a username, password, and an email address.  So you can turn in the anonymous moron who thinks hes a meteorologist but is too stupid to be one.  Personally I believe hes jealous cause he probably wasn't smart enough in school to make it or good lookin enough either to be a meteorologist.

Besides some schooling in Hurricanes I think Bob needs some schooling on insurance also.

"He's not the one making the accusation, just attempting to answer some truly sad people on this blog"  lol OMG he is the one calling the NHC ... nobody asked him first why it was named a hurricane..

"We don't need to waste time on uneducated opinions"
I agree.. Bon needs educated about hurricanes..

Bob, I may be wrong - but my insurance policy states any "Named" storm... - then the higher deductable comes into play.. So even if this storm was not a hurricane I still would have paid the higher since it was Tropical Storm -

Keep your comments coming Bob - I enjoy reading them..

Hey Bob,
How about doing away with the comment portion of this blog ?
We come here to see what your point of view is on weather and weather related topics.
We don't need to waste time on uneducated opinions.

Go back and read it again.
He said that his take was he didn't think that was true.
He's not the one making the accusation, just attempting to answer some truly sad people on this blog.

This blog is only self serving to him, seems like if he is going to accuse the NHC and NOAA of fudging data he should also be a man and take the hits when he is corrected when they are forced to take time out and call him back to explain the basics of measuring wind speeds to him...

Comment posted by Casey Gisclair (cgiscl1@lsu.edu), on September 14, 2007, 11:40 am
If it's so unprofessional and so horrible, then why are people reading it? Obviously you value Bob's opinion if you read here, if not you just love to waste time.

I say we just disable to comments section because the good will eventually have to pay for the bad and I don't want that to happen.

I work in the insurance industry in Louisiana and I am pleased that Bob Breck actually wrote this statement. To all insureds:
Please know what your policy covers. Many people think they are covered for storms & really do not understand how much out-of-pocket expense they will have to come up with to cover damages by a named storm or any storm that passes through. How right you are Bob Breck!

Comment posted by Anonymous (Anonymous), on September 14, 2007, 10:13 am
Hurricane hunters dropped instruments and they did record sustained winds of over 80 mph.  Bob really needs to educate himself on the criteria for NHC reporting and how winds are measured. Not just bouys are used.

Comment posted by Anonymous (Hurricane@bellsouth.net), on September 14, 2007, 10:11 am
I assume the NHC explained to Bob that in small CAT 1 storm you are not going to have 74 plus sustained winds record all over the place, and thahunters the sustained winds of 80 plus which makes is a hurricane.  They have to call it a hurricane they can't "fudge" their data as Bob would like them to do.  I have lost all respect for Bob as a profesional, FOX news should also take action.

Comment posted by Anonymous (Anonymous), on September 14, 2007, 9:25 am
Agree with ya fellow Anonymous, they refer to them as sustained surface winds but they are not measured on the ground but about 33 feet above the ground.  Usually they are est winds which are estimated using MANY data sources not just a simple bouy floating in the water.

Comment posted by Anonymous (Anonymous), on September 14, 2007, 9:01 am
Looks like Bob is trying to draw attention away from his recent poor forecasting of storms and now blame the NHC for "fudging" their data!  NHC did not forecast Humberto to become a hurricane so why would they "fudge" their data to make their accuracy worse?

Very interesting take on "hurricane Humberto," and so true.  By the way, I know on other blogs, if you want to post, you have to sign in with your e-mail and a user name.  This might be a way to hold people accountable for what they say.  I know that you must be tired of getting harassed.  I know that others on this blog are tired of reading some of these anonymous posts, myself included.
